Aphid predatory midge for potato aphid
Aphidius colemani stings potato aphid but cannot complete its development in it, so the wasp to use is Aphidius ervi, Biobest's wasp for large aphids such as this one. Biobest recommends combining the two, calling the gall midge an excellent complement to parasitoids and ideal for early infestations. Koppert lists the midge against all aphid species and stages. Release beside the colonies on moist media, and remember it is a long-day insect: without night lighting it goes into diapause as the days shorten.
