Aphid predatory midge for green peach aphid

Aphidoletes aphidimyza · predatory midge
Against green peach aphid

The gall midge is the curative partner to the Aphidius colemani wasp on green peach aphid: UC IPM describes its use in greenhouses as well demonstrated, and Koppert advises weekly releases from the first colonies until the aphids are under control. The midges lay only where aphids are present, so put the release points under or beside the colonies, on moist growing media. Aphid predators readily eat wasp-parasitised aphids too, but a review of the research (Prado et al. 2015) found that mixing natural enemies more often improves aphid control than harms it.
