Aphid parasitoid wasp for rose aphid

Aphidius colemani · parasitoid wasp
Against rose aphid

Rose aphid is a large Macrosiphum aphid, and colemani is sold only for the small ones. Its close relative potato aphid is not a workable host: colemani stings it but cannot complete its development. No trial on rose aphid itself was found. Koppert sells Aphidius ervi for large aphids such as Macrosiphum species, but no supplier we checked names rose aphid. In the garden, wild parasitoid wasps (among them Aphidius rosae) are important, as are hoverfly and wild lacewing larvae; UC IPM says releasing lacewings has not given significant control of rose aphid in trials.
