Trichogramma spp. · egg parasitoid wasp
Against codling moth
UC IPM says Trichogramma platneri releases have been used in some commercial walnut and pear orchards alongside mating disruption, but the method has not been successful in commercial apples, has limited effectiveness, is too expensive for practical use, and has never been tested in backyards. For a home apple tree, bagging the fruit or a granulovirus spray timed to egg hatch is the evidence-backed choice.
