Tachinid flies for brown marmorated stink bug
Tachinidae · wild parasitoid
Against brown marmorated stink bug
Trichopoda pennipes readily lays eggs on brown marmorated stink bugs, but in a 2025 USDA-ARS study no adult flies emerged from them: the invasive bug is a dead end for this parasitoid. It still attacks native stink bugs, which is why it is worth keeping around, but it will not bring BMSB numbers down.

Bristly, housefly-like flies whose larvae develop inside other insects. The small white eggs glued to a squash bug or caterpillar mean a tachinid has already found it. How to recognise it, what it is confused with and how to keep it around are on the full Tachinid flies profile.
